Produced by Embodi Theatre
October 17th-27th 2024
Embodi Theatre’s exciting bilingual theatre production “AI May” weaves together elements of realism, movement, and multimedia to create a captivating theatrical experience. This compelling sci-fi drama delves into the poignant themes of grief, solitude, and intergenerational trauma through the lens of a Chinese migrant mother, offering a unique perspective on the challenges of the modern age of artificial intelligence.
Having garnered enthusiastic responses from the Meanjin community through its two previous works-in-progress, “AI May” represents a refreshing voice within the migrant narrative. The play’s bilingual English/Mandarin dialogue authentically explores the complexities of cultural identity, the search for belonging, and the enduring struggles associated with intergenerational trauma, love, and loss in the era of rapid AI advancement.
