Creative Director & Founder
Deidre is not only a passionate actor and theatre producer, but a successful company Director with over 30 years’ experience in business operations. For over half these years, alongside her husband, she has run People in Plastic, a national industrial wholesaler headquartered in Brisbane (and PIP Theatre’s major sponsor).
During her training as an actor, Deidre noticed the lack of accessible, affordable and available performance venues to stage her own work. Combing her business qualifications with her passion for the arts, she founded PIP Theatre, a commitment to give back to the community.
Deidre operates PIP Theatre as both a production company and as a venue for like-minded arts organisations to hire. PIP Theatre’s model is set to deliver financial benefits to Brisbane artists and arts workers too.
Michelle is an experienced CFO, business owner and auditor with over 30 years in the IT, banking, and finance sectors. Michelle was the CFO and co-founder of Agility Applications, a technology company specialising in solutions for the fiancé and capital markets industries, has held senior audit roles at Suncorp and KPMG, and is currently a director of Mt St Michael’s College.
After successfully selling the business, she had created with her husband and partners, and with children now more independent, Michelle found herself in the enviable position of having the time and resources to be able to do something to make a difference. Not wanted to just make a financial contribution, Michelle was on the look out for a project that would utilise her extensive financial and governance skills and have real impact. She found it when Deidre introduced her to PIP Theatre
Creative Development / Venue Coordinator
Amelia is a multi-skilled practitioner working in creative development, theatre production, and acting. After graduating with a Bachelor of Creative Industries Drama at QUT, and completing various acting courses, she felt there was a gap in the market for professional opportunities for local creatives to grow their creative careers.
Amelia manages the programming of works through venue hire and oversees the vision and development of PIP Theatre as an entertainment hub.
Jenna has graduated a bachelor’s degree in business at QUT and is our Marketing Director. With over two years of experience in the field, she has established her own unique aesthetic inspired by retro designs with a modern twist.
At PIP Theatre, Jenna aims to articulate the Theatre’s core values via online media to convey a vibrant brand presence and promote the platform as a social enterprise.
After meeting Deidre Grace and hearing her vision for PIP Theatre, Genevieve knew that this place was going to be special. And then she saw it!
The PIP Theatre building is unique and versatile. It’s going to be an imaginative and comfortable place to create and rehearse, and to experience theatre that both educates and uplifts.
Genevieve has always been drawn to stories that lead us to reflect on who we are as a society; to see situations differently in the hope that we can truly understand one another. Her work often explores nature, our disconnection from it and our violence against it. She is driven by human connection, history, memory, and nostalgia – how they relate and distort each other. A love of research adds depth to her work which is often filled with the forgotten value and unrealised potential of upcycled materials. “Colour is my second language”
Sarah’s design inspiration is a nod toward our building’s past entertainment roots. Built as a nightclub in the late 80s, Sarah aims to revive the colourful personality and vibrant atmosphere that this venue once personified.
When designing her own personal spaces, she has developed a love for sustainable design through second-hand sourcing and has adopted this as a philosophy in her professional practice.
Sarah has a unique perspective and a passion for interiors that will captivate your soul and excite your spirit.
Timothy is currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts Drama at QUT. Originally from Toowoomba, Timothy has been involved in the creative industries since a young age.
As a part of PIP Theatre’s launch season, Tim wrote and directed Perks, Pressures and Parfaits. This performance was hugely successful and became PIP Theatres’ first sell-out show.
Coinciding with the production of his show, Timothy constructed the lighting for The Ugly One.
PIP Theatre acknowledges the Turrbal people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather together.
