Never meet your heroes.

Alone in her country cottage Margot Mason, rockstar feminist, writer and fearless academic is fighting writers block to write her next life-altering bestseller, something that can match her seminal work, The Cerebral Vagina. Enter Molly, a committed fan with an axe to grind. And a gun. Faced with the true impact of her life’s work, Margot must defend her choices to not only Molly and her gun, but a host of friends and foes shaped by her fickle musings, and ultimately, us.

As we navigate the turbulent terrain of the online battle of the sexes and international political discourse that seeps into the Australian zeitgeist, Female of the Species emerges as an Australian classic with piercing relevance almost twenty years since its premiere.

Cut & Run Productions presents a bold new perspective on the play infused with all the current fears, frustrations and full-on belly laughs you could want. Walking the tightrope between satire and farce, this take-no-prisoners comedy proves that the female of the species is not only deadlier, but funnier than the male.
