Three works. Three nights. One big beautiful mess.

WORKS/IN/CHAOS is back, and this time we’re taking over TOUCAN Festival!

Salad Days Collective’s development playground returns with three brand-new Australian works, three fearless creative teams and a whole lot of glorious uncertainty.

Somewhere between a reading and a fully staged production, WORKS/IN/TOUCAN is where scripts are tested in the room, not perfected for the stage. Over four weeks, writers, directors and actors will throw themselves into the unknown, building bold, immediate and unfiltered versions of brand-new work.

But this time, we’re doing things a little differently.

Across three Friday nights, each work will have its very own moment in the spotlight. From the absurd and politically outrageous to the intimate and interdimensional, each showing invites audiences into the messy, electric and wonderfully unpredictable process of making new theatre.

Raw. Unpredictable. Completely alive.

This is not polished theatre.

This is process.

This is CHAOS.

THE WORKS

POWER HUNGRY ANIMALS

By Matt Bapty

FRIDAY 27 NOVEMBER · 7PM

SYNOPSIS

The party’s over. The wine is still flowing. And the rich are behaving very, very badly.

In the aftermath of a lavish garden party, a mining heiress, her boyfriend and her best friend settle in for one last drink. But as the evening unravels, so do their carefully constructed relationships, exposing a world of privilege, manipulation and increasingly dangerous secrets.

A wickedly dark comedy about power, wealth and the lengths people will go to protect their place at the top.

DUTTON: A PRE-APOCALYPTIC LNP AUSTRALIA PLAY

By Zachary Stehn-Prewett

FRIDAY 4 DECEMBER · 7PM

SYNOPSIS

Peter Dutton has been summoned. Australia may never recover.

When two bored university students accidentally unleash a mythical version of the former opposition leader upon the world, they embark on an increasingly ridiculous quest to stop him before it’s too late.

Ancient magic, political absurdity and a deeply questionable understanding of democracy collide in this outrageous, unapologetically chaotic political satire.

The end is nigh. Probably.

IT’S WRITTEN IN THE STARS

By Peter Wood

FRIDAY 11 DECEMBER · 7PM

SYNOPSIS
Oli believes their new found love is all part of destiny, thanking the stars for aligning their zodiacs. But when the relationship unexpectedly ends, Oli hopes to save it by altering the timeline.
Will aligning their lover’s zodiac be their happy ending? Or do we learn it’s impossible to change the fabric of a person.
