POT LUCK PLAYS

AT PIP

By 7th Floor Theatre & PIP Theatre

Monday nights commencing April 22nd

It’s potluck but with no dinner! The mystery meal is the script and nobody knows what this week’s theatrical play is until the lid is lifted on the night!

Take part as an Audience Member or a Play Reader!

Every Monday at 6pm, PIP Theatre opens its doors and bar to Brisbane audiences, actors and creatives. At 6:15pm the play is revealed! Those that purchased a reader ticket will be cast in a role while audience grab a beverage and mingle with fellow creatives.

Everyone is on the same level having no prior knowledge of the play which is projected on the walls, freeing the readers from holding a script.

If you want a new exciting way to spend your Monday night with good company, grab a very affordable $10 audience ticket now and be entertained.

OR

If you want to hone your acting craft in a low pressure supportive environment, grab a reader ticket for just $20 – there is no preparation required!

What is a 'Reader Ticket'?

Take part in the play reading experience featuring a mystery play and an opportunity to sharpen your cold reading skills with a ‘reader’ ticket!

Upon arrival at 6pm, the mystery play will be revealed! Those who purchased a reader ticket will be cast in a role to read while the audience grab a beverage and mingle with fellow creatives.

Everyone is on the same level having no prior knowledge of the play. The script is projected on the walls, freeing the readers from holding a script.

What do I need to prepare as a 'Reader'?

There is no preparation required! Everyone is on the same level having no prior knowledge of the play.

You will have the opportunity to practice your cold reading skills in an interactive moved reading of the text.

We only ask that you book your reader ticket two or more weeks in advance so we can cast a play equal to the number of readers that have booked that night.

What is expected of a 'Reader'?

As these are moved readings that have not been rehearsed you will not be physically touching your fellow performers and all stage directions will be read out loud by the projectionist to create a safe comfortable environment.  That said, there will be a stage and we do encourage you to use the space and your body.  The beauty of Potluck is it’s impossible for you to get it right or wrong on a first time read and the audience knows this. We are all along for the experience so take risks and most importantly, play.

What can I expect as an Audience Member?

Audience gets to watch a raw performed read discovering the play at the same time as the performers. A great evening to expand your knowledge base of plays and talk about what was discovered afterwards over a drink.
